MYRTIOTISSA ...through the vineyards and woods to what is perhaps the loveliest beach in the world. Its name is Myrtiotissa.
(Lawrence Durrell - Prospero's Cell.)
Myrtiotissa is described by some enthusiasts as the most beautiful beach in Europe and it exerts its own magnetic charm, having once visited Myrtiotissa visitors are drawn back again and again.
The most important sight in this area is the monastery of Panagia Myrtiotissa, that took its name from the icon of Panagias that was found around the myrtle. It deserves to visit it and to admire the splendid view. |
