There is a decent selection of taverns, restaurants, bars and hotels in the area. The beach has been awarded an EU blue flag. An intresting walk can be to the remains of a castle in the area. With Kontokali as a base one can enjoy the shallow waters of neighbouring Gouvia bay, Aqualand waterpark, the old Venetian shipyard at Gouvia, Achilleon Palace, picturesque Paleokastritsa and Corfu Town (the fascinating Venetian capital with the picturesque streets (just 15 minutes away by bus).
